This is the text of the proclamation given to Stoney Burke by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, at City Hall, on 11/6/06, in the city of San Francisco, CA.                      Proclamation Whereas, the world needs clowns; and, Whereas.Stoney Burke is a clown; and, Whereas; Stoney Burke is also an activist and street performer; and, Whereas, He has been in Hollywood films; and, Whereas, He even produces and hosts his own cable access show; and, Whereas, Stoney has done all that, delivered wit and laughter since he was a young boy; and, Whereas, he even strategically flunked out of Catholic School in fourth grade; and, Whereas He has stood on a plaza or in a free speech areareading newspapers and commenting on current events for the last 30 years; and, Whereas, He has been arrested so many times for expressing his views and dressing up as, of course, a clown, Uncle Sam, and many others, now therefore be it, Resolved, That the Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco designates Oct 24th, 2006 as the official > STONEY, A CLOWN WHO RABBLE ROUSES IN DEFENSE OF FREE SPEECH, DAY.	At the University of Michigan I ran afoul of the word police on the DIAG, Ann Arbors own FREE SPEECH spot. As president I would designate the whole country as a free speech zone. Speak out! (photo-Neil Marcus) There's a place on the UC Berkeley campus, that we call Ohlone plaza. Named after the Native people of the SFBayarea. Here beyond Sather Gate and over Strawberry creek is a small rise, just perfect for speaking in the grand old tradition of the "Free Speech Movement". The power of the human spoken word is deeper than all the I- pods stacked waist deep in the sewers of popular culture. You don't think so? I live it, I know it, it's true:)!	Legendary street musician, Shakey Jake woods passed on today. His unique upside down guitar strumming will no longer be seen on the streets of Ann Arbor, Mi  Shakey Jake is in the first street performers hall of fame. On Sept 17th, 2007 Shakey Jake passed on to the big buskers spot in the sky. I was honored to know Shakey and will miss him dearly. As Jake always said "It's not what you have, but what you do with it" You did a lot with what you had Jake and we thank you for it. RIP and long live the memory of Shakey Jake.
